Perfect Silence Poem by Nathaniel Graves

Perfect Silence

I looked up,
In the perfect silence;
At the boundless sky.
The atmosphere around me stabs
At my heart who yearns to escape.
To escape the light that blinds everyone and everything;
The light that blinds the sky, killing the stars in the night.
Everywhere, light is murdered, mauled, and masticated by millions.
But I lay here, immersed within these layers of deluded light.
I have hope, and a defined goal
To leave this malice place, behind and gone.
Because beyond that exists a different light -
Sprinkles of fiery stars -
From which I lay,
In perfect silence.
