Pbl- One Good Deal Poem by Noor Othman

With many facts and theories we are faced
The best kind of learning is problem-based
It cannot be done if teachers are in haste
Students are allowed to study in good pace

This approach is easier and much more real
Subjects are mixed up in one good deal
From basic theory till how to heal
The knowledge is learnt in one good seal

We have been doing PBL for years
Happy about it, as we get lots of cheers
Many envy us especially our peers
Complex it is, not easy as it appears

The idea is to uncover what students don't know
Not for lecturers to show-off what to throw
The students control the learning condition
The tutors monitor their knowledge acquisition

This teaching method should get the vote
Over learning exhaustive details by rote
With lots of facts the students need to gloat
This method will put them in good boat


This poem was written for my lecture on "Problem Based Learning (PBL) - the How and Why" - a lecture to new lecturers of Medical School which is given almost every year.
