Paul's Wall (2007) Poem by Jodie Phillips

Paul's Wall (2007)

His Soul filled with hatred, consumed with rage
Relationships were broken
He chose to withdrawal and just disengage
A wall built of words unspoken

He hid his true self and stayed all alone
He bottled up feelings
He is so sorry for all he had done
He Has no room for healing

What if the wall had outlasted its need
And now it is time to grow?
What if he needs to let go of the past?
He no longer needs to feel woe

The Eagle screeching, The Dragon gnawing
Which of them defines Paul?
What if it's really The Eagle clawing
Trying to break down the wall?
