Past Tense Poem by Alexzia Ferdinand

Past Tense

I held your hand
And kissed your lips
Remembering a time
Like this

When the hand I held
Was something dear
And love was not a thing
To fear

When time slowed down
With no more rush
Created a world just
For us

When dark was just dreaming
While others were sleeping
When your eyes were mine
For keeping

When I didn’t have to lie
And laugh in turn
And trust was a privilege
You earned

Now the hand I hold
Is much less dear
And love is everything
I fear
