Past Present But No Future Poem by layla joseph

Past Present But No Future

Rating: 5.0

Last night I asked you to go out
And you said yes so quickly I had to laugh
So we went to dinner
And a walk along the beach
We talked for hours
About the past the present and the future
You told me of your pain
I told you of mine
We talked about what we wanted
About what we liked
We showed each other a side of ourselves
Know one else had ever seen
A side that we hide away
A side we pretend that isn’t real
We didn’t hold back
We just laid it all on the line
And when the night was over
I thought that would be it
But then we talked on the phone
for close to three hours
And in that time I felt your pain your loneliness
And your excitement
so while you lay beside her
And I lay on my own
It was like you were beside me
Holding me near and whispering in my ear
All your hopes and dreams
All those forgot truths
That the world is to full to hear
But that for that moment
You were mine and I was yours
For ever and eternity
