I had a calmness you lacked
Humbled by love
Though even a God hesitates
Before a Muse
Never undone by doubt
Always undone
By your smile
Your laugh
Your being
Humbled and undone
By my very Muse
By love
By you
But I could think
Of no greater way to go
With word and heart
In plain sight
On sleeve and plain lines
I’d tap the ink wells dry
Never finding the right way
To express
Just how wonderful
Loving you feels
Though human nature tests
Even the most patient of lovers
Would it be any other way
Then it would not be true
As only time
Past and future
Will tell
