Parting Poem by Edward Baker

Parting

Rating: 5.0

My grandson saw me crying
I know he wondered why.
It broke my heart to leave him
To kill him and say goodbye
His eyes were full of sorrow
He was very sad
We'd had a smashing holiday
But the parting had to come
The leaving at the airport
For that place we all call home
We hope to meet again one day
When he has grown a bit
I hope that I, his Grandad
Will still be well and fit.
