Parenting Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Parenting

Parenting?
Is not easy.
And knowing when to let go,
From meddling into the lives...
Of children who grow to become adults.
Many seem unprepared to do this.
Or can not to allow it.
With a letting their 'kids' do what they did.
Discovering to find their own way through life.
To then blame others.
For decisions they made yet unable to face,
Making mistakes to admit and erase.
This to do at their best.
While their parents are left,
To either medicate, drink or cross fingers.
Then to hold their breath.
When they are asked to accept a long distance call.
Afterall,
Parenting is a nerve wrenching position to be in.

"You speak from experience.
How many children do you have?
To know so much about parenting."

Me?
Are you kidding?
I don't have any children.
I suggest and recommend.
Isn't it 'apparent' I live a life stress free?
But I will say this,
If I did have kids.
They would not be permitted to do what I did.

"But that would be hypocritical.
And contradicts what you have just said."

Thank you.
I have heard that before.
But parenting is not my only expertise.
Nope.
God has blessed me to develop other skills.
However,
My main mission?
And I am glad you asked.
Is to freely recommend and suggest.
But I do thank you for noticing my skills.

"Uh...but I..."

Hey. It's okay.
My modesty is also a gift.
