Parentheticism

At the top of a page in my dictionary are two words
in comparatively large type, averring,
'All words hereon lie between us'.

One of these is 'jactitation'
which I occasionally do in the name of art,
wear a wedding ring in public without being married.

The other is a name for someone a rung below a subadar
'jamadar. Same as jemadar.'
