Papaya Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Papaya

Papaya

I am so embarrassed
Most of all of myself.

I live in Toronto
Big city, Canada…

I purchased papaya…
Cut open, to pieces
Bit and chewed,
Swallowed.

It was in plastic
Sticker plastic
But not seeds
Nor skin.

Had I been in village or a farm
I knew what to do
Seed for birds or plants
Skin for animals…
Would have no plastic.

I threw all of mine as trash,
With such act I am shame.
