Pain Poem by David Wood

Pain

Rating: 5.0

Pain of the heart
That exists from its own side,
Not physical, not cancerous,
But deep and enduring.

A pain that can last for years
Growing and eating away the soul.
In a way it has no end but yet
Circumstances cools its ardour.

Heart pain lives in the past and
Has no future, ever present
And silent of all words, an enigma.
It is tamed by time’s cooling balm.

Well penned. Pain is bitter, only those who swallows it knows the taste. Thanks for sharing

This pain can be unbearable, so much more than physical pain. It requires strength, hope and only love to heal this pain- but it can be healed. Thanks David.

Beautiful poem with good message...Pain will never stop but time will heal it. True message. Liked reading it.

Pain that lives beyond the death of lost love, or a nostalgic longing....Time is the only cure....And yet we fall victim, time and again to it's reoccurance. Thank you for the reminder that we all suffer....yet not always in silence, alone. Masterful piece. PEACE

It's kind of balmy here. But painful. Well said.

They say time heals all wounds...and it does, even though it doesn't feel like it when you're digging the bullet out of your flesh. Great expression of that.

Pain tamed by time’s cooling balm. You also prescribed the solution. Thank you.
