Pages Never Turned Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Pages Never Turned

Up early in the morning
Planning for my day
Grateful for the blessings
To rise another day
I set out on my journey
Seeking inner peace
Pausing for a second
To aid a child in need
Embarrassed by his standings
He reluctantly complies
No need for him to thank me
I’m pleased to do what’s right
Return to my agenda
Send prayers for a friend
Searching for the patience
To wage battle till the end
Temptation clouds good judgment
Distractions fatigue the mind
The roads to doom are many
Designed to squander time
I look beyond the obvious
In pages never turned
To underscore the reason
The “Just” are often spurned
I cringe at human zombies
Sleepwalking through this life
Compelled to somehow reach them
To turn darkness into light
No need for praise or honor
Each man must do his part
My search for inner harmony
Lies solely in my heart
