America, Are You Happy Poem by Mustafa Marconi

America, Are You Happy

Rating: 5.0

Gazing ahead I dare not ponder
The destructive significance of this situation
Tell me America, are you happy?
Or are you still entranced by rhetoric
A change you can believe in
Is just basically more of the same
Promising to transform United States politics
You’ve brought back the same old players
To the same old games
Appointing Wall Street honchos to regulate their own
You’ve empowered the wolves to shepherd the sheep
At their disposal, The U.S. Treasury
Their own personal candy store to pilfer and loot
As victims of their greed continue to face financial obliteration
A change you can believe in
Doubling our soldiers in Afghanistan
Duping the blind about the perilous situation in Pakistan
While baiting the Soviets to renew the Cold War
This charismatic singer of songs
We have chosen, under false pretense, to lead
Extended the Patriot Act
Did not abolish military torture
And will never move to eliminate the power
Of the non-governmental, privately owned, Federal Reserve
Instead he continues to empower them
As they hold our economy hostage
To the financial war games they’ve initiated
Are you happy America with what you have done?
Blindly electing a political child
Based on slogans, rhetoric, and the color of his skin
And on his cult like ability to sway the masses
For the wise man knows that when many gather in one direction
He should sprint the opposite way
Away from the change we can believe in
Away from the deceptions and lies
For he is not the people’s champion
He is a political novice
Controlled by the rich and powerful
Maneuvered by wealth into power
To lead the thirsty into the desert
Because John McCain could have never pulled this off

incredibly well written and vastly agreeable. My favorite and most well put lines would have to be 'For the wise man knows that when many gather in one direction He should sprint the opposite way' So true. and rather than ring my political views too much into it by noting other favorites of mine, I will leave it at that! an enjoyably intelligent read.

I'm not sure how much I agree with it. But It's very well written, I love the part where it says 'You've empowered wolves to Shepard the sheep.' It's very convincing, almost to the point where I do agree with it. That takes a lot of talent. Great job.
