Our Virgin Bride Is Gone Poem by asaolu kolawole ifedayo

Our Virgin Bride Is Gone

OUR VIRGIN BRIDE IS GONE
Some years ago
in that garment of fulfilment
thy beauty lifted our smile
dancing magically in the scenario
together with thy golden gallant groom
but today, you brought tears to our eyes
and make our days be without your dreams

O lord of souls!
Why is our happy song
always shattered by mourning?
Why dont you make the righteous ones live
and let the evil days be?
But thou still unquestionable!
whilst many destiny passing unfulfilled
lying so strange inside their muted grave

yesterday i wrote about sorrow
and today my pen write dirge again
each moment sadden with agonising tale
when there i stood
and her proudly father spoke like an hero:
Oh! 'iam happy that my dearest daughter is still a virgin'

But now she is gone
our virteous woman is gone
a diamond rainbow has fallen
IKOKO FUNFUN has broken
and dust has drained back its sweetness in haste
O adieu, our virgin bride
Goodnight, our woman of pride.
