Our Neighbours We Cannot Choose Poem by Francis Duggan

Our Neighbours We Cannot Choose

It commenced just before noon yesterday
The party in the house across the way
Only disrespect to their near neighbours they do pay
In their loud voices and the loud music they do play
I do not begrudge them their fun in case you get me wrong
But a fourteen hour party does seem a bit long
2 a m on sunday morning by their noise kept awake
Perhaps they will party on until after daybreak
Their large amounts of alcohol consumption and loud music comes at a cost
In damage to hearing as well as brain cells lost
Though some will tell you youth must have it's fling
Abuse of alcohol does seem another thing
Like our relatives our neighbours we cannot choose
Young people do create noise when they booze.
