OTHERS ARE GREAT AND GOOD

It goes on and on
The endless humiliations
The unending discoveries of those better than myself
It goes on and on
The rediscovery of my own limitation and failure

Others are great and good
As I will never be
Aspiration is not enough
Greatness is not a wish- fulfillment
I will die never having done it
And new names will come and come and come
And be loved and remembered
When I and my name are not.
