Only The Spirit Strong Survive: (Original 08 31 2005)

Listen and you will hear the best of
genuine and handmade pray to idol
vanities love pretenders
to the monotone of this eternity
only the spirit strong survive to
straighten emotions out from twist of
braids of the peppermint colors of lies
together fascias style of ethnic chiding
the tumbling days survive and the moon
winks the slumbering cast of spells
the snow’s quiet pillow white
the rain’s splatter windshield wipe
the spectacle of the star stud sky
set to shadow dance pellet laden melt but why
hailstone skipping upon the black top road
sweeten the taste of sugarless nips
the play on words then punch line rather
the horny notion then the two gather
in dressing robes to prepare the choir
only the spirit strong survive there.
