Oneself To Love Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Oneself To Love

Truth to know and live as is,
Can not be done...
Masked and cloaked,
In pretensions to live them.

Addressing impressions first to make,
Has more to do...
With a faking an image.
Hope to sell and done to do well.

Identity and integrity to have it,
Takes courage and determination...
Just to be oneself to love.
Instead of things to mean nothing.

A quality to have it,
Some think can be demanded...
From others to them given.
But not to prove of it deserved.

How on Earth can anyone demand,
From someone else to demand it given.
When showing less respect for themselves,
Is more to observe to be clearly served!

Truth to know and live as is to love.
Most choose to ignore.
To prioritize denial.
Done to pass judgement.

While putting others on trial.
For living the truth,
And its reality to criticize.
More to fantasize and recruit to delude!
