One (Part Two) Poem by Apolitos Kanenas

One (Part Two)

One mouse
One
Trapped
In a vast endless plain
Of darkness
Slowly
The mouse found a speck
Of light
Coming from absolutely
Nowhere'But that tiny speck
Of light
Led to
Another
And another
Until
The mouse stepped
Into a lush forest
Streaming with light
And life

I was able to continue on
And find my way
Into the light
And escape
The darkness

I was lost
Now you found me

One boy
Tries to stay inside
But every night
Snuck outside and took one pebble
Until the pebbles weighed him down
The boy was stuck
Until he gave up his pride
And let go
Of at least half
Of his precious stones
When he made it back inside
He admitted his doings
And was able to find
A merciful
Friend
To share the burden of the stones

Thank you
My friend
For finding me
And helping me lose my guilt
And pride
And take some upon
Yourself

I was lost
Now you found me
I was paralyzed by guilt
Now I have you
To share
This guilt with

One bird
A youngling
One hurricane
The bird was to weak to fly
Away
But then the birds mother
Came
And carried the youngling
In its firm talons
It carried the youngling
Home

Thank you
For giving me the strength
Along with carrying me
Away from the storm
And back home with
A loving family
Who will never lose me
Again

I was lost
Now you found me
I was paralyzed by guilt
Now I have you
To share
This guilt with
Once I was trapped
In the howling winds
But I found the strength
And I'm free

One boy
One me
Billions of people
One me
Against trillions of myself
One me
Now has the strength
And help
To equal many times the enemy
But is still struggling
One me
Still has little hope
One me
Has many others but
One me
Has lost sight of the light
One me
Lost
Found Lost again
One me
What have I done

One me
Can fight
But doesn't have the will

One me
One

I have lost sight of you
Once again
Lord
I need you
Once again

One mouse
One boy
One bird
One me
One
One
