Once It Was More Beautiful Poem by Shalom Freedman

Once It Was More Beautiful

ONCE IT WAS MORE BEAUTIFUL

Where do I go from my own loneliness?
And what do I say to myself when I am lost?
Life must be more than this suffering self-torment and anguish
Once it was more beautiful
And I was younger and more hopeful
Now I dream of going down with dignity
Life is more difficult now
I am older
I pray to G-d
I will not fail everyone
In a shameful way.
