On The Contrary
Roses are blue,
violets are red.
Sugar is bitter,
or sour instead.
Emeralds are red,
rubies are green.
Happy is sad,
Fat is lean.
Up is down,
water is dry,
Clean is dirty,
the earth is the sky.
The head is the foot,
heaven is hell,
love is hate-
Oh, well.
Always be wary
of being contrary,
and making a fiction
of contradiction.
