On Receiving An Email From Margaret Hickey Lochran

She originally hails from the Cork Kerry border that's all of her I can claim to know
But she will go to live in Mountleader in Millstreet near where to the old Finnow waters flow
On it's journey to the Blackwater through ancient fields as old as time
Through places that in long gone decades inspired the old bards for to rhyme.

On surfing the net for information on the great Knocknagree poet Ned Buckley she came upon my Web Poetry Corner site
She did like the site and the contents in much of the stuff I did write
'Tis nice for to be complimented my thanks to her in these words I express
I feel happy to think I'm responsible for giving to her some happiness.

She says for many years she has lived in California and her daughter born in the U S of A
Wants to live in her mother's Country she pines for the hills far away
The lure of the old Land is calling the fields and the woods and the hills
The bogs and the lakes and the hedgerows the streams and the rivers and rills.

Her name is Margaret Hickey Lochran and though her I may never have the pleasure to meet
I hope she finds happiness in Mountleader by the Duhallow Town of Millstreet
She went to the Millstreet Convent School in the late fifties well over four decades ago
And me she does not seem to remember and her I do not seem to know.
