On John Howard Congratulating Steve Waugh

Prime Minister John Howard congratulated Steve Waugh on his test century against England as if in history this is something great
But in the achievements of a cricket player I cannot see much cause to celebrate
But then suppose he has his eyes on the next Federal Election the last time around he did not thank the refugees
That he had banished to Nauru on the Tampa to that poor Island amidst the Southern Seas.

Most Aussie voters rate wee Johnny highly but history to him will not be so kind
When historians will go back on his record mean spiritidness is all that they will find
For to cling to power his Government lock up asylum seekers a better life they only wish to know
John Howard in years from now will be remembered as one who for sake of power stooped very low.

Steve Waugh and cricket for him a diversion from the shabby treatment of boat refugees
Than defending his Government against angry humanitarians to talk of cricket he feels more at ease
Asylum seekers for him won the last Election but of course he did not thank them publicly
Their loss of rights a loss of rights to all Australians something that many Aussies fail to see.

In he congratulating Steve Waugh on his test century a diversion from the issues of today
But the shame of his mistreatment of misplaced people from him perhaps will never go away
He fought and won an Election on boat people and politics a dirty game they say
And Johnny Howard he knows how to play dirty and he won the dirty game he choose to play.
