Old Man's Lamentation Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Old Man's Lamentation

Rating: 5.0

Where have all the golden days of youth gone?
Questing mind, body healthy, passions aflame
All slipped away, lost, scattered to the wind
Years fleeting never relived and enjoyed.
When I was young and easy, bold and resolute
All was bright with sunny skies without rain clouds
Such rich days of promise, time slow never pressing
Each hour new discovery with mind ever seeking.
Old age sneaked up claiming harsh victory
Arthritic joints, blood pressure, over-weight
Hair white as snow, walking ever slower
Glasses for reading, more visits to the toilet.
Old age speeding time, days rushing swiftly bye
Moving relentlessly to the grave with no return.
