Oh, The Night. Poem by Luke Britsch

Oh, The Night.

At night I scream the songs of the streetlights.
They simply smile and sing back at me.

As they sing their song, I smile.
And sit back for a long night,
The dreams will be sweet.

It's beautiful, the lullaby they've chosen tonight.
I would try to hum along,
but the song of the streetlights
is one I'll never know.

The Beauty brings a tear to my eye.
But it simply falls from my cheeks.
It falls into a nearby gutter.
Just like my dreams.

But I'm not so sure if even the streetlights care.
They keep on singing.
I keep on humming.
Or at least trying to.

Goodnight sweet streetlights...
Goodbye.☮
