Oh My Love, My Still Living Self-Sacrificing Beautiful Wife Poem by Gert Strydom

Oh My Love, My Still Living Self-Sacrificing Beautiful Wife

1
My love, the taking care to not get COVID-19 is not done
although it almost seems as against it the battle is won,
where it seems that in South Africa the virus is halting
and in life and liberty we are throughout the country exulting
while medical personnel are courageous in their daring
and probably no other time will ever be so very scaring
but all along you have been so precious in my heart
where married and in love we are not designed to be apart
and far too many loved ones are from this terrible thing dead
while in the garden the roses are flowering white, yellow and red,
where the impact from China throughout the whole world applies
and still I wonder where the responsibility for all of this lies?
2
This morning in the distance I hear the ringing church bells
that do of a triumphant God that rescues and His glory tells,
throughout the garden the songs of weavers and a bulbul thrills,
while a redbreast calls upon the rain coming over the hills
everywhere new flowers are appearing in this sunny spring
while in thanks almost every bird to the creator jubilantly sings
but never can anyone from the impact of COVID-19 be turning
and that it's not completely gone to me remains concerning
while of it our government and other countries still keeps track
and still a cure and remedy against it does world-wide lack
and far too many loved ones are from this terrible thing dead
where a myriad of great and marvel things go through my head,
that you and our love through life and death and a pestilence remain
and still God shelters, protects and acts in happiness and in all pain.
3
Far too many tears we did over the impact of COVID-19 spill
but still every single day remains in an omnipotent God's will
and too harsh and terrible have this time and just to exist become
and yet we do every simple unseen blessing from God welcome
where all the terrible and beautiful yesterdays are now gone
and you are my responsibility and of me a part while we live on
and this morning in the distance I hear the ringing church bells
that do of a triumphant God that rescues and His glory tells,
and during joyful times and in a time of COVID-19 dear you do remain
while we do love each other at heart through times of joy and pain
where COVID-19 do man in his obedience to the government test
where in great freedom life does remain in liberty at its very best
where the impact from China throughout the whole world applies
and still I wonder where the responsibility for all of this lies?
