Of Muses Who Let Go Poem by A Waltz For Zizi

Of Muses Who Let Go

I stripped myself of her
For she was only a shield
Protecting me from the horrors
Of looking forward
At my own future.

To own myself
I needed to let go
of everything she put on me,
her fingerprints and all,
to take showers in the storms,
And reach for the lighting
that would purify me.
