Now I Can Smile Poem by Alade Abayomi Idris

My world was dark
Void and meaningless
Like the world was
Before God beautified it.

I could not smile
Sadness sit over the throne of my heart
I led the life of a pariah.

Like the word that lightened the dark world
Anyanwu ututu lightened my life
Now I can smile
Because there is joy in my heart
She gives me happiness
Just like the praises of the angels give happiness to God
Her presence gladdens my heart
Like a candy given to a toddler.

Love is indeed a beautiful thing.
