Nothingness Poem by Katinka Havermans

Nothingness

Rating: 5.0

And when he emerged
Out of the shadows of the room
She realised Death was there
For her final trip

She would never see
Another autumn tree
Full with colour
Or an apple tree blossom

But most of all
She realised when she looked
At the man beside her
She would never again
Get the chance to say
'I love you' to the one she loved

She turned and faced Death
He nodded
She gave her soulmate
One last kiss goodbye

Then the shadow of the room
Surrounded her
Into what seemed to be
Nothingness
