Nothing Left To Trust In Promises Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Nothing Left To Trust In Promises

Promises made and never kept were to a photographic mind, lies told to a child because the person who promised never did remember what they told a child they would do.

Feeling slighted and lied to, abandoned, no way to shake the supposed distrust that kept being brought out in a little child's mind.

Hopes of what was duly promised never coming to fruition, walking away, never looking back for there was nothing to trust in promises.

Never trusting the person who had told those lies to a very impressionable child, growing up, never believing anything they were told at face value, always questioning everything.
