Not What I Used To Be Poem by Emily Swinney

Not What I Used To Be

Rating: 4.5

I am not what I used to be.

At least I don’t think it’s me.

I would not know,

Since now I just go with the flow.

I used to be able to feel,

I used to have a deal,

“Leave all alone and nothing will happen.”

Then the new me came a tappin’.

All the old fell behind,

And the new me didn’t seem to mind.

I changed, and I don’t know why.

I used to hope that one day I could fly,

Towards the dreams, towards the future.

That fell away just like my kindhearted nature.

Sometimes I wonder how I loved back then.

Back when it was just life and when and when.
