Not Meant To Be Easy Poem by Francis Duggan

Not Meant To Be Easy

Life was not meant to be easy from the pen of George Bernard Shaw
That we should always be happy is not part of natural law
We have our good and our bad days us human beings are designed in this way
Though that some are far happier than others only seems true for to say
Even for the happiest of people every day cannot be good
This is just part of being human something that is understood
You cannot always feel like a winner every day you cannot win
Even the one who is smiling may not feel happy within
If you have not known of some sad times you cannot appreciate happiness
Just to feel happy quite often in itself a form of success
That laughter can be a good medicine as a truism remain
And that it can be an antidote to sadness one does not need to explain
Even the most cheerful person sometimes doeshave an off day
And if at most times you feel happy in life you are doing okay.
