No Contest
This is not a contest.
No reason to see who can resist
The pleasure of a kissed response.
Or the look of knowing
When a lack of sense
Provokes noise around us.
There’s no contest to avoid
The soothing calm of a touch,
Being near you, or hearing your
Laughter. I exist droidlike:
Neither waiting nor expecting;
Not angry or questioning;
Just alone.
And think - maybe it's better
That way. But not knowing
If my soul has gone.
