Nighttime Daydream Poem by Matt Burgett

Nighttime Daydream

Rating: 4.0

One more evening
And I’v been home all alone from the start
I’v been sitting here thinking
If you know the true tone of my heart

And I’m happy now
And I was happy then
But the night has not yet begun
And may not until ten

And I don’t wanna sit here alone
No not ever again
I refuse to give up
Now let us begin! !

And as I pick up the phone
And dial your number
Hoping that you answer
And allow me to come over

Then suddenly
I snap back to reality
And looking at the T.V screen
I realise everything was just a dream

And now I’v grown tired
Of all disappointment
Always getting fired
And everyone else’s resentment

So if I take a bullet to the heart
And if a beam of light to think I see
So that maybe I can hit restart
And awake from this nighttime daydream
