Nights Poem by Zakhele Anigon

Nights

Rating: 5.0

It's already here
Another night the same thing is crawling near
It waits for me in my bed
Grabs hold of me beneath my sheets
And grows its roots deep in my chest
My eyes I want to shut and it won't let me
It makes me listen to the streets
The noises someone makes that lives
And once again there is no one here to save me
Desperation is claiming all my senses
Let me sleep, just let me sleep
But no, everything up and tenses
I could scream but it wouldn't really matter
Even if someone heard and came
My loneliness would be the same
And my thoughts would only further scatter
So in the end it always wins
In a restless sleep I'm tangled every night
That's what, for me, now a night means
This is what I fear
That every night from now on it will be here
