Eyes closed, I travel
Floating in the night air
Closing the distance between us
Finding you wrapped in your blanket
sleeping soundly
Gently I lay beside you
Feeling the warmth of your skin
Radiant as the sun
I breathe in
Slow deep breaths
Savoring your essence
Tracing every curve of your face
As your eyes flutter in sleep
Do you know I am near?
Can you sense me?
Your lips curl upwards into a soft smile
You look so peaceful lying there
I try and touch you
But the image falls silently away
And I am left here
alone
in my bed
eyes closed.
