Night Owl Poem by Jim Coleman

Night Owl

Rating: 3.0

What is it that makes the world go round?
Our planet bears us on its back,
as it flies through the night without a sound.
.
I sometimes wonder when I go down
to make us morning tea (one white one black) :
What is it that makes the world go round?
.
At sixty-seven thousand mph it rounds
the sun, on a never-ending track,
as it flies through the night without a sound.
.
The answer has to be profound.
I go to Google and check the facts.
What is it that makes the world go round?
.
At a thousand mph it spins around
the orbits of innumerable clocks,
as it flies through the night without a sound.
.
Unaware, we stand here on the ground,
not knowing where we're going. No going back.
What is it that makes the world go round,
as it flies through the night without a sound?

Have you seen The Planets, with Brian Cox? All about our galaxy and a lot on our own planet Earth, just thought you might like that series.
