New Wife Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

New Wife

New wife

A whisper was sweet
By one of Yazidis
"I know of a lady among us,
Why don't you get married? "

Though was fun to hear
Made me think far beyond:
"What to share? "
"She speaks Kurdish and Arabic! "
"So knows not English? "
"Little bit! "
"And knowledge? Schooling? "
"Not at all…house lady! "

From then until now
This matter has crawled
On skin and inside, in each part…
"How can I? "
Then I shift thoughts to her
I have asked, know her age
To change her is too late!
"If I who knows culture,
If I who can speak one of tongues,
If I who am patient with them all,
Cannot be a cure, help and aid,
What about future for them, her? "

Cannot and will not I ever say:
"The best as I see is her return! "
Yes I know of the war and the bombs
And I am, partially, aware why, and the cause…

I know of the power-thirsty there
In palace, most castles, everywhere
Damascus, Kremlin, Washington
To London and Tehran
Tel Aviv and Riyadh, "
So I think and I think and I think
And of pain I cry, slither,
Feeling wolf with blood under feet,
Write poem on snow; cannot howl! ! !

Perhaps, you are longing for somebody who is living on the other side of the country with whom your country is on war. Yes, war has marred human love and made it impossible to get somebody from the other side. You know that you won't get your Love and what else remain now? Write a poem on snow. Sing a song to the winds! I appreciate your feelings.
