Neighborhood Grandmothers Poem by Walterrean Salley

Neighborhood Grandmothers

Rating: 5.0

When we were just kids,
Playing in the street,
The neighborhood grandmothers,
With their Granny treats,
Were there to encourage
And to help guide the way.
Their presence made us safe—
Being there for us each day.

Faithful and trustworthy,
They were known to be.
Our parents felt comfortable
For them to oversee
And be sure that we children
Didn't aimlessly roam,
Whenever Mom and Dad
Were away from home.

This reminds me of my grandmother, her and her friends will sit outside of her house during the summer while the neighborhood children visit because she is the nice old lady.
