Name Your Price Poem by Alex Lane

Name Your Price

I would like to take you
Back in time
To a town
Where the reason was mine
It was dark
It was cold
And just sometimes
It eats your soul

I want love
I want love enough to break these chains
As the angel of no restraint
I plot to end this game
And you will laugh
What if my darkest day was your finest hour?
Culled by temptation
Doomed by desire
It all results the same
Name
Your
Price

It's hard to say what became of me
Am I the only one who sees
The only refuge is with the refugees?
Children of god
Sibling rivalries
Enough of your scripture
No more magic trees!

I want love
I want love enough to break your laws
As the agent of no resource
I'll get to my recourse
And you'll name your price
What if my righteous night was your darkest tower?
Ruled by distinction
Held by super powers
It all results the same
Name your price or sacrifice
Don't look back
Don't think twice
Stake your claim
Roll the dice
And the spheres will sway in either way
This is the only rule by which we play
