My Tummy my Belly Poem by john tiong chunghoo

My Tummy my Belly

I pacify my tummy --
my belly -- we all should --
the seat and facilitator
of desires -- translating
all the veins there
Into prayers to tame
the organ so open to
the outside world --
good and bad --so as not
to give me trouble
and with that to have
the will to fast to
freeze desires
that drain the spirit
and the mind
