My Search For God Still Continues Poem by Shakuntala Sharma

My Search For God Still Continues

Rating: 5.0

Ever since my mind opened up for thoughts
I started trying to define God
Definitions I found aplenty
But evidence still eludes.

Books I read like mad
Only to find none The Knowledge had
Gurus everywhere abound
Offering, for a price, formulas around

Customised courses, enticing workshops
Designed for ready-made enlightenment
Mass meditations, class-room teachings
None of these brought God face-to-face
Nor could break God's silence

My search for God still continues

At least you're aware and do not fall prey, if the search continues, so what, better this than have the illusion of finding the s.c. truth!

a lovely subject..a vast one..packaged wisdom..instant enlightenment..no enlightened soul would ever want to guide the other...if one shares a joy it is different...commercializing is foolery; ; our seeker is our guru..please read my poem 'a song of joy' 'a love that never spoke'

The best Guru to guide one to experience and 'see' God is the individual him-, herself. The famous sloka 'Iswaro, guruhu, aatma iti moorti behda vibhaabine vyomavat vaypaya dehaaya (desaaya) , Sri Dakshinaamurtaye namah' informs the best Guru is the intuition of the individual. Outside Gurus are always bound to be influenced by worldly attractions. And favourite God (Iswara) always makes the individual realize the True Nature of the individual which is nothing but the Divinity itself. Nice contemplative poem.

I think you've summarized the problem with all religions, revelations and 'methods': Gurus everywhere abound Offering, for a price, formulas around Customised courses, enticing workshops Designed for ready-made enlightenment The description and the word is never the thing and methods only condition the mind - so one sees what one is conditioned or 'methodized' to see. Even 'God', I'd say, cannot make one see - and if that were possible, that's a ridiculous 'God'. A poem that invites honest inquiry, Shakuntala
