My Religion Poem by Victoria Hughes

My Religion

Rating: 4.1

My religion would be called 'Tolerance'
It's doctrine would be respect,
Respect for yourself and for others
And the best of all beliefs it'd reflect.

It would teach to be kind and thoughtful,
And not think yourself superior to others.
It would practice no matter what race or sexual orientation
We are all as one, we are all sisters and brothers.

It would not dictate what you do with your body,
All it would say would be live your life well,
It would not tell you that you should change others,
It would not speak of heaven or hell.

It would state that you should be loving,
And not hurt others or be of narrow mind.
It would not say that one gender should rule,
But truth in equality and peace it would find.

It would not make use of covers or veils
To mask the beauty of the human form and soul,
It would not ask for money or converts,
It would say 'strive to make your knowledge whole'.

If I could found a religion
Then 'Tolerance' it would have to be
It wouldn't ask for you to change
Why in the world should you follow me.

Yep, tolerance is one thing that seems to have disappeared from our world, we think everyone should be perfect. We tolerate nothing now. Respect is also non- existent, it's all for one and one for one, no one else matters. A terrible picture of the future. I like your religion, sounds good to me! Sincerely Ernestine Northover
