Victoria Hughes Poems

Upon the crest of a wave I see
hidden memories held within.
New ones created, from every bough
on every ship, that travels bound
...

I damage my lungs
Day after day
Knowing someday
That i'll have to pay
...

Always look for the silver-lining,
Always strive for a goal,
Always aim to reach the moon
And you'll never be alone.
...

The coldest winter since 1963
That's what's in store
The newspaper told me.
...

'You know me not, '
I say to you,
...

I know that today I ran from you
I didn't mean to hurt,
I couldn't stay a minute longer
I'd waited by the church.
...

'But I still love her, dad
She could move the moon and the stars
With her smile.
She could make my heart leap,
...

Love is not love me or i won't speak to you
Love is not be mine and mine only
Love is not be away from me and i'll forget you
True love is not just 'i love you'.
...

You're such a fool
You're such a cad
Why can't you grow up
And stop being such a lad?
...

You gather your clothes and the act is done,
The curtain rises from the floor,
'I'll call you tomorrow' you say
As you pass out of the door.
...

11.

Each day I read you,
I stare across and imagine
What you are going through
Inside that head of yours.
...

I love the way you see nothing but good
In everyone you meet,
It makes me realise how cynical I am
When you act so naive and sweet.
...

Time to put the washing out
Get up off your butt lady,
I know the pond looks so enchanting
Glistening gayly for all to see.
...

I am a poet of light
Darkness is not in my sight,
I won't let it be
Why live in misery
...

My religion would be called 'Tolerance'
It's doctrine would be respect,
Respect for yourself and for others
And the best of all beliefs it'd reflect.
...

When you love me
you do not hurt me
when you love me
you carry me over obstacles in my path
...

Books line the shelves of the old library where we used to play,
We'd steal ourselves away after school each day.
We'd look up at those gargantuan cases
And see the books looming with pictures of far away places.
...

For you I tried my best to be
The Very best that I could be.
But you turned out to be a fool
A fool that abided by no rule.
...

Let's carry on with our merry dance,
Ler's not act on the urge to get in each others pants.
Let's keep on with this game of innuendo,
Let's not be alone and let it all go.
...

To my good friend who only ever talks about herself.

When life is almost perfect
And you feel balanced
...

The Best Poem Of Victoria Hughes

The Ocean

Upon the crest of a wave I see
hidden memories held within.
New ones created, from every bough
on every ship, that travels bound

for some new pasture.
Such hope and yet such loss,
is the ocean's promise.
It's force men think can be tamed.

Yet that is what the ocean
wants you to believe.
It can bite and snap,
or it can be calm and cool.

A million promises made,
and broken upon it's shores.
A billion memories made
and broken, lying on it's floors.

The ocean is natures untameable force.
