My Recital Poem by Lauren Saari

My Recital

My hands start to sweat
My tongue starts to swell
My lip starts to tremble
… There’s no way this can go well

My gag reflexes kick in
I grab my stomach cramped from fear
The time for my recital
Draws dreadfully near

But I guess here it goes
I step onto the platform
The rowdy audience goes intent...
To hear the masterpiece I’ll perform.
