My Punctuation Poem by Randy McClave

My Punctuation

A punctuation is my friend
A period tells me when a sentence will end,
It tells me when to stop and to take a rest
Because of it what I read I can now fully digest.
And if a period they forgot to leave,
Then I wouldn't be able to breathe.

An exclamation point is another friend of mine
It shows me of a emotional or of a loudness sign,
Sometimes it's meant for a dumbfounded astonishment
So, that punctuation mark was sent.
It's also used in writing direct discourse,
It shows much force.

A comma is there to stand for division
Without it there would be a word collision,
When you see it you take a slight pause
At the end of a clause.
It is also used to separate items on a list,
Like the fingers on a fist.

And then sometimes I noticed a confused hark
Then I notice there is the question mark,
Whenever It's placed at the end of a sentence
It's asking a question in repentance.
Now I learned another lesson,
When I read or see a punctuation question.

My 4 favorite punctuations are those
To all of them I alone had chose,
I now need a slight pause, so I place this comma,
Then this exclamation point for the poem's drama!
This question mark is asking should I send?
This period then shows that this poem has come to an end.
