My Power; Your Pain Poem by Jennifer Peckins

My Power; Your Pain

One silent kiss
Under the deepest grave
To end all the love
That you could never save
Your hidden secrets
You thought would never rise
Came back like a forgotten soul
That had nothing left to compromise
They can’t stay buried forever
The mistakes that you don’t even regret
But one by one I dug them up
And now they’re impossible for me to forget
It stabs me like the wound that killed me
Cutting through, but dull for sure
Even though I thought I was strong
There are some things I can no longer endure
How can I say I’m sorry
For destruction you kept to yourself
Everything I did in anger
At the time there was no way else
But I don’t feel wrong
For moving somewhere free
Doesn’t matter who I hurt
As long as all your flaws you see
Don’t think about it anymore
It’s not like I really care
Funny how every time I walk by
You can’t help but stare
You lost: oh you’re so damn weak
But I have no reason to complain
From your anguish I get my power
So much pleasure from so much pain
