My Parents Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

My Parents

Rating: 4.5

My parents

I envy my parents
They were good; excellent
They taught us everything
Serious and joking
I recall stories
Laugh, cry, crazy…

Dad once said of a man:
"He claimed he was God;
In time of Genghis Khan."

The soldiers told leaders
And leaders to leaders
Finally the man meets
Genghis Khan.

"Have heard of your claim;
Then must do miracle! "

Khan points to a man
A man with a tight mouth
"Loosen and widen it! "

"Your highness has heard wrong
I am god on Earth, land, not skies
Each of us has a job; up is his; low is mine
I loosen what you want; if under cummerbund…"

Khan laughed and let him go.

Was dad, dad or friend?
I miss him my friends.

Mom said things in her way
Like the man who farted
And answered complaints:
"God gave mouth, intestine
God gave nose, legs and arms
He also trained us to consume
Air, breathe, and export excess gas…"
