My Own Worse Critic Poem by Christina Byrd

My Own Worse Critic

What happens when others outshine you
When their glory rays burn out your image
When their beauty blinds everyone to only look at them
and yet you still love them as family
do you smile as cover while the tears lurk behind
Do you look in the mirror and wish to alter yourself
Do you push yourself harder to be more
Or do you just say stop:
Because I am what I was made to be
And the world had better see
I am my worst critic but dont you be too
Because I dont wear the mask of the fool
Love me or love me not
I will not be a slave bot
I will stand tall
And I will never fall
