My New Year Resolution Poem by Michael Peterson

My New Year Resolution

Another New Year, more resolutions
Why do we torture ourselves so much?
Is it worth the pain and hardship?
Why not just live life and enjoy it.
How many of us are acting accomplish our resolutions
Mine never fare that well, like a record going round and round
A few slips here and there, still working on many
Some have taken years or my whole life
Why do we pick the things we can't change?
Thinking we can make ourselves better
When we are really the best we can be
This New Year we should go be ourselves
Smile and enjoy life, spend time on yourself
Romance someone, be kind to someone, volunteer
Be happy and not hurt anyone or ourselves
Look in the mirror and smile at the person you are
Surprise others and show your true lovable side
Get rid of the hate and anger that eat us up
The worldand all of us will be better off.
New Year's resolution is to be yourself
Just be you, I will be me
Brings warmth of happiness and joy to everyone we meet
Friendliness, Kindliness, Courteous, Respectfulness are the keys
Set out to begin this resolution within you
Open to others and they will open to you
A smile and a simple hello will open new doors
I beg you to let me be the first to open up to you
